Nicole at Alden Theater!

 Last weekend, Nicole performed a beautiful solo program at the Alden Theater. Her program consisted of Prelude and Fugue in e minor from WTC I by J.S. Bach, Waltz op 34.#3 by F. Chopin, Valse-Scherzo by E. Chabrier and Variation Etude by Y. Nakada. Many of her friends came to hear Nicole perform. She received not only cheerful applause, but also a lot of colorful flower bouquets that will make this day even more memorable. Thank you for coming to hear Nicole at the Alden Theater!

Studio News

  Students have been preparing very sincerely for Theory Exam, Skills Day and many other events during the past month. I am so thankful for such a wonderful group of students and parents, I am truly fortunate to have you all in my studio. Thank you!

   Several students participated in the WMTA held event, Modern Piano Music Competition. Selections had to be written by composers born after 1905. Many interesting pieces were performed by students from VA, MD and Washington DC. After competition, I was asked if we could include several selections in future repertoire because students enjoyed hearing them so much. It is always exciting to discover a composition and wish to learn it after hearing at the event. Results were outstanding:

NVMTA Piano Concerto Competition

 Please send the warmest congratulations to Raelyn, she is the 3rd place winner of the NVMTA Piano Concerto Competition! Level 2 division had 20 entrants this year, and was the biggest group in the competition. Raelyn performed beautifully, she played Concerto in d minor, K466, mvt.1by W.A. Mozart. Congratulations, Raelyn!

Kayleigh-Golden Key Composition Winner!



  Kayleigh received wonderful news from the Golden Key Competition. She is the 1st place winner in the National Category and 2nd place winner in the International Category!

 Kayleigh competed with 68  young composers from Greece, Hong Kong, Russia, China, Canada, Great Britain, Italy and other countries. Her work has been recommended for the program of the World Composers Recital at the Golden Key Music Festival at Vienna, Austria. This summer, Kayleigh will travel to Vienna to receive her Winners Medal on the stage of Vienna's historic Ehrbar Hall. Congratulations, Kayleigh!

Second quarter is ending next week, so it is time for a quick update. Students have attended several NVMTA and WMTA recitals, studio group class, Fall Festival and SR Exam. We held a beautiful holiday recital at the Brightview Retirement Place. Residents loved hearing holiday music prepared by Cameron&Raelyn, Teddy&Kenneth, Raelyn&Kayleigh and Sophia&Jacqui duet teams.

  I always look forward to holding our Group Class in December.  In addition to performances, we play board games and enjoy sweet treats afterwards.

Raelyn at Alden Theater



Raelyn performed a beautiful solo program at Alden Theater, McLean. Many of her friends, classmates, cousins and students from our studio came to support her. After recital, she could barely wrap her arms around all the colorful flower bouquets. Thank you for coming to hear Raelyn at Alden Theater!


 It was a very busy weekend for Raelyn. In addition to performing her program at Alden, Raelyn participated in Asian American Music Society Competition, and she is a 2nd place winner! Congratulations!

VA State Auditions

  Congratulations to Jacqui, she is the 1st place winner of VA State Auditions! Competition was held during VMTA Fall Conference at Shenandoah University. Jacqui played compositions by J. Haydn, F. Chopin and J. Ibert.

  Nicole received HM for her performance! Nicole played  compositions by J. Haydn, M. Moszkowski and D. Kabalevsky.

  Both students, Jacqui and Nicole, represented Northern Virginia District at  VA State Auditions. Thank you to both students and their supportive families for their hard work and dedication to music studies!
